I have just started to dismantle an fs1 I have acquired, but this has a 2 part exhaust. The down pipe from the block, how does it come out? I don't want to pull or tap it too hard if it is fastened in somehow. The pipe is loose but will not drop out. A manual I purchased only shows the one piece exhaust. Any help greatly appreciated.

fs1 exhaust
Re: fs1 exhaust
the downpipe is retained with a threaded castlated nut to the barrel with a gasket ring inside on the flange which unscrews with a " C " spanner and then the downpipe fits into the silencer and is retainer by a smaller castle type nut that screws on to the silencer and there is a gland in the silencer which when the nut is done up then clamps the downpipe tightly .
so remove the exhaust , undo the silencer nut completely in case the gland has gone hard over the years with heat - then with the nut fully undone then rotate and pull on the diown pipe and it should pull out of the silencer either with or without the gland.
The two peice exhaust is restricted, so if you want better performance - buy a one peice modern pattern exhaust they are cheap enough.
