does anyone know when Yamaha changed the name from the SS to the fs1e.I was recently talking to a guy who has a ss registered in dec 1973,while mine is registered in nov 73 as a fs1e. any ideas ???

Welcome to the Club firstly!
There is no definitive date or frame number as such but from the Club Records and the UK FS1-E Register, that we are the custodians of, we estimate that it is around frame number *394-08000* as we have a late Sept 1973 M-Reg SS (frame number beginning 394-0074XX) and I own an early "FS1-E" badged which is February 1974 (frame number beginning 394-0081XX)

Yes that's a great help as my mate can also identify his m reg bike which has been owned by him for 30 yrs. was hand painted red when he bought it. I,am desperately trying to get him to restore her
