john o grotes to landsend

Post by villawagen »

just to let you know that 50 of us on mopeds of all makes made it, after seven days of riding in some very harsh weather. 6 fizzys made it all the way and proved that they where by far the best moped to take on such a challenging endurance ride, due to the fact that they where easy to fix when getting problems. i managed to snap a clutch cable, broke a front break leaver (bike fell over), points closed up (very bad up the hills in Scotland) and my indicators stopped working and brake light flashed instead, due to the amount of water thrown at it
it did pinch up once, but did not seize.
by the time it reached lands end it was running like a dream, more than i can say for some more modern examples ;)
it was mint when i left, but now looks a proper state  but it shall be rebuilt for the next challenge.
i have decided to get it converted to 12 volt as i need the electrics sorted out, so need to have a word with the fizzy doctor, and i have a list of parts i need replacing like the clutch panel as the leaver thing is shot, so i had to keep adjusting my clutch after it snapped. a new paint job is also in order and i need a new break leaver and switches as we had to make a differnt type of leaver to fit.
its not going back to stock as it will always now be a true adventure fizzy built to take on the world, so quite a few modifications are planned including fatter tyres front and back.
hopefully i will get it ready in time for billing, as a few of us fizzy riders who did the trip intend to join the display this year.
so there you have it, all i can say is it was one of the most fantastic experiences i have ever undertaken. i would not have missed this journey for the world and i have fallen in love with my fizzy.

take may fizzy ? you would have to tear it out of my cold dead arse
