Postby flapinflares » Mon Aug 30, 2010 10:12 pm

:? what year did the black speedo ring arrive on the fizzys. I have herd a few answers to this. I have seen them on candy golds.... my origanal ss did not have one but i never had it new. my mate had a brand new fs1e in 74 and I cant remember that having one. Im sure one of my fizzy friends on here can clear this up. :?

No matter what anybody tells you, they were never fitted to fs1e,s of any year. They were fitted to rd125/200 SERIES plus other bigger yams and it just happens that the clocks were the same diameter, so as a sixteen year old you fitted one to your fs1e and hey presto it looked like a very desireable rd200 :D

:? Hmm that explains a lot..... some with some without... I recon the guys who have a restored fizz with a black ring on the speedo put it on because they had one on as a kid :?

 no one ever puts L plates on do they...... or do they?

Yeh people put em on for exactly that reason, i remember having one on my fizzy, and most of us did back in those days. I think they look good, and after all they are a genuine yamaha part, maybe they should have put em on at the factory and gained a few more sales of bikes on the strength of it
As for the L plates i think they would look good, cos all of us had those like it or not, and if they were not fitted the old bill constantly reminded us to fit em :) oh the good old days

Yeh i remember, we also used to put the rear one on the shocker in the hope it would satisfy plod, but the local birds would,nt see it, that would be uncool if they thought you were a learner. Problem was a couple of decent potholes in the road and it was trashed, but we kept sticking em on 8-)

Correct GB I did it within a week of turning 17 on what was then a jointly owned RD250 DX or C model as it has become known.
