FS!E MIRRORS

Post by Candygold16 »

I am in a bit of a dilema with my fs1e mirrors, At some point in the 1974 ss's life somebody has tried to take the right mirror off and overtightened it and sheared the thread out of the switchgear. Then either an enthusiast or an engineering company has put a helicoil in the switchgear. But the problem lies noe because no FS1E mirrors fit due to the Yamaha thread. So really i need a proper Chrome universal thread 8mm mirrors that are like FS1E mirrors !!
I have wasted lots of money on the covered pattern mirrors that are easy to find which i Dont want any more of because they fall apart.
Any information would be great !! Also i am on a tight budget : D
Thanks
I am now on the fizz and by god it feels good : D

I brought my Ap ones from ebays Nick warner
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-AP50-A50P- ... 2408wt_930

They have been fine and the chrome is good but what is the defintion of a good quality mirror,is a mirror not fit and forget?,what goes wrong?
I would hate to recomend these and find they are the same make you have been having problems with Candy.
Enlighten me.

I think what candy is saying is that the right one has been re tapped to a normal rh thread,at least thats how i read it so yamaha ones wont fit now :?:

Just the fact that i have had 2 pattern pairs that have either fallen apart or been faulty. I have also purchased a pair which were completely different when they came !! I do not want the crappy covered ball joint on the bac of the mirror because that seems to be the problem ! I could go down the route of finding new switchgear but i simply cant afford it !! I just need a quality 8mm universal pair of chrome mirrors with Standard threads : )
