Front chain sprocket

Postby bobhenry999 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 9:56 pm

Hi,
Had a bit of a disaster last week when the front sprocket of the main drive chain came off whilst riding, luckily I was close to home and just coasted back.
On removal of the cover, the sprocket was lying loose, with no nut present. My question is, what should be there to hold the sprocket on, is it just a nut, or should there be some kind of tab washer or split pin. Forgot to say its a 1976 DX.
Thanks,
Bob
