Well done Charlie!!

Postby pertheswede » Mon Jul 02, 2012 9:24 am

Well done to Charlie for winning "Best YAMAHA in Show" at this weekends VJMC 30th Anniversary Show at Kettering with his very rare 1975 Pinstripe Competition Yellow drum brake fizzy. (Only known surviving one of these models to date)

A tough ask as the VJMC judges are notoriously meticulous in their judging and it is not often our fizzys get a look in as the judges tend to class them as "too common" these days!!?? :o  :?

Love the T-shirt as well Charlie! ;) 8-)

Now then Marky, some early hubs were in fact lightly polished to a brushed type finish, a bit like the 596 DX fork tubes and then other were painted silver. Just not sure exactly which model had what at this stage although pretty sure the SS had the lightly polished variety. ;)  :ugeek:

Yes marky the hubs are polished, to a far higher finish than standard, it seems as though you have to over polish any ally bit,s on yer bike these days if you want to win any trophies :( though i would far prefer the duller "factory finish" ,i will be returning my SS back to original duller finish soon 8-) 0. Take a look at most of the show winning bikes of late, they are all to shiny on the ally, and the chrome bits :( factory finish does it for me every time 8-)
Hey Per can you tell me what exactly "for tubes" are :?: i think only later bikes from dxa and fs1m had painted hubs :?
