Postby flapinflares » Mon Jul 19, 2010 7:26 am

:D Hi all, wonder if any of me fizzymates can help. Im after a modern bike with distance riding in mind. I have a static van by the sea and want a bike for the 100 mile trip. Im leaning towards hinkley Triumphs but open to idears as im weed off with scrolling through ebay. or maybe you have a large modern retro tourer for sale..... you never know i might put my 73 candy gold ss into the deal. :D

the triumph sprint st is regarded as one of the best tourers around and they are quite cheap now for the 955 models. ive had a couple of triumphs and cant fault them

I've had a number of Triumphs and they're all really nice. My Speed Triple is fantastic... Depends whether you want resto or low maintenance.
I've just bought a VTR1000 Firestorm - these are readily available and very cheap on e-bay - you'll pick up a nice one for £1500. Tank range is the only downer as you have to refill after 125 miles unless you get a post-2001 model.

The zedman is right - the Triumph's are a great breed and tend to hold their value. Best one's I've had have been the Speed Triple 1050 (current bike) and the T509 Speed Triple. Worst one I had was the TT600 and you wouldn't want that for touring anyway.
