I remember the duckhams one was the only type I ever saw.
You can just make out "one shot treats half gallon" which makes sense as we sometimes only bought half a gallon, 
used to turn the younger kids up side down and shake them, until the change fell out their pockets and we could go buy petrol ...

I can't remember so well, you might be right. 
Only sometimes we could only afford half a gallon and I thought it was one squirt for just the half.

Us sixteen year olds(in 1975) used to use the garage forcourt oil, left by the side of the petrol pumps. You could adjust it for the petrol/oil ratio you wanted in our case 20-1

You may be joking but I used to run my purple fizzy on castrol r40 back in 1975, cost £1 a gallon.
